Strekonline’s roots date back to 1998, when I launched my first Star Trek fan site – Randy’s Star Trek Site. Through continuous enhancement and expansion, that site evolved over the next three years under different identities, including Star Trek Badlands, The Ultimate Star Trek Site, and St-Misc.com (in early 2000) before launching in February 2001 as Strekonline.com, which became one of the most popular and recognized Star Trek fan websites of the era.
Over the ensuing years, the site diversified to include one of the largest online Star Trek databases at the time, video downloads, and webmaster tools for fellow fansites (including a banner exchange, webring, and top site list), in addition to its signature screencaps and synopses. At the time, online videos and image stills were extremely hard to come by except for official promotional material. It my goal back then to publish new episode stills with a synopses and review the very day an episode premiered. Strekonline also featured its own fan series… Star Trek: Fracture Federation about a turbulent time near the end of the 24th Century with episodes eventually exceeding 100 by its discontinuation.
Strekonline expanded beyond Star Trek to other series in 2007 and launched its YouTube channel in 2008 before taking a hiatus in 2012. In 2014, a simplified version re-launched with a focus on its core offerings. 2025 saw the expansion of commentary through its YouTube channel.
